In addition to our weekly podcast episodes, we also host a bi-weekly book club and bi-monthly livestream for paid members.
Here are the details on how you can join each of those:
Book Club
Every other week, our expert host James hosts a book club for paid members. This isn’t your typical book club, though: instead of novels, we study the writings of history’s greatest thinkers.
So if you want to explore Tolkien’s secret to a lasting marriage, Plutarch’s guide to praising yourself without boasting, or Jonathan Swift’s rules for being a great conversationalist, this is the place for you.
1) How do I participate?
All subscribers to our publication can join the bi-weekly live streams on Substack. They take place every other Thursday at 8:00pm Eastern Time, and usually last for 60-90 minutes.
All paid subscribers can participate or ask questions via the live chat on Substack, or join the discussions on Zoom directly if preferred. Shortly before each session, all of our paid subscribers will receive a Zoom link via email to join the “inner circle.”
Note: all paid subscribers are welcome to join the Zoom calls directly, but most tend to prefer tuning in to the Substack live streams and asking questions via the live chat.
2) Where is the link to the live session?
You can find the Substack live streams on our homepage (www.thehabsburgway.com). The stream will appear at the top of the homepage as soon as we go live.
However, we also share the links to the streams inside our subscriber chat, which is where you’ll find all book club announcements and general discussion.
For those who want to join the Zoom session directly, we email the Zoom links out to all paid subscribers shortly before each session.
3) What if I can’t make a live session?
That’s totally fine. We record all the sessions for our paid members and upload to Substack so you can watch them back any time. You can find all the recordings that we’ve posted to date here [hold tight, link to archive coming soon].
4) What is the schedule?
We explore one new text each month, split into two bi-weekly discussions every other Thursday (unless it’s something lengthier that requires more time to read).
5) What is the format of the sessions?
These are interactive sessions. They typically begin with James providing an analysis of the text’s main points, before transitioning into the discussion section and Q&A.
All paid members are encouraged to join in directly with questions and comments in the second half, either directly via the Zoom call with James, or via the subscriber chat on Substack.
Livestreams
Every other month, Eduard and Evan host a livestream session where they respond to your questions in realtime. The goal is for you to share the challenges you face and/or lessons you’ve learned in building your dynasty, so that all present can benefit from feedback and discussion.
Any paid member can participate in these calls, but priority for asking questions goes to Founding Members. For privacy reasons, these calls are not recorded.
Livestreams are typically hosted on Saturday mornings US time and are advertised at least 1 week in advance. On the morning of, you will receive a link to join us via Zoom. We request that you be respectful of others and keep the conversation on-topic to ensure the best experience for everyone.
